Christopher Michael Bethune September 09, 1983 – March 12, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Christopher Michael Bethune, age 35, of Owens Cross Roads, AL passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at a Nashville hospital. He was born in Huntsville, Al to the late James Richard Bethune Jr. and Elizabeth Ann Haltiwanger. Chris and his friends enjoyed helping the homeless by taking them food, blankets and clothing.
He worked with Ability-Plus where he enjoyed taking care of and helping special needs children. He was a Cub Scout in his youth. Chris was preceded in death by his father James Richard Bethune Jr
He is survived by his mother Elizabeth Ann Haltiwanger; step-father Terry Haltiwanger; sister Kimberly Bethune; grandfather James Bethune Sr., grandmother Ruth Bennett and special friend Christina Brown. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Hampton Cove Funeral Home from 11:00 to 1:00. His funeral service will follow at 1:00 with Michael Carpenter and Frankie Osmer officiating.
Family and friends are encouraged to wear Alabama attire in his memory. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to Ability-Plus 100 Jetplex Blvd, Huntsville, AL 35824 in Christopher’s memory. Chris loved helping and working with the special needs children.
His job at Ability Plus allowed him to work at something he loved.
