Claire’s Obituary Claire L. Kydd passed away peacefully in the company of her family on Friday, February 22, 2019 in the Home of her Grandchildren, Shawn and Forev’aa While under Visiting Nurse Service Hospice and Palliative care . Claire was 85 years old. Claire born on June 23,1933 as Claire Louise Marion at Greenpoint hospital to her parents George Marion and Myrtle Hicks who Preceded her in death.

At the time of her birth her father George Marion was a chauffeur and a store clerk for 15 years and Her mother Myrtle was a House keeper for 4 years. Claire was their only child. Claire was raised in Queens New York, at 32-21 107th Street, Corona.

Claire Married and had a daughter named Mary Ellen Kydd who was born February 24,1959 in Corona, Queens where she also raised Mary. Claire was a devoted mother to Mary which was her Only child. Mary gave birth to Claire’s first Grandchild Shawn A.Kydd In 1974, a very Joyous moment for claire to have a grandson.

Ten years later In 1984 her Mary gave birth yet once again to her Second Grandchild Tamika S. Kydd Who she adored. Mary and Granddaughter Tamika both preceding her in death. Claire moved to The Bronx in 1999 into Casella Plaza,Senior housing.

Claire made friends quickly there and was always involved in the buildings many activities and events. Shortly after moving to The Bronx Claire joined Gethsemane Baptist church were she was a active and dedicated member, she lived with a strong commitment to her faith and community, serving, caring and giving to others are just a few of her many wonderful things she has done. At Church more like her first home she was called “Mother Kydd”.

Four Men she Always spoke highly of was God, her Pastor, President Obama and Her Grandson Shawn. Mother Kydd Loved tand respected Pastor Robinson and his wife “The First Lady”. she would always talked about how well he preached and how Beautifully The first lady is and how well she dressed.

Everyone at church Loved and respected Mother Kydd as well and she loved to be in the house of the Lord. Claire had been a member for almost 20 years at the time of her passing. Claire became a great grandmother when her grandson Shawn Sr. Became a father to his first born child Shawn Jr. on October 17, 1999 which was another proud moment for her since grandmother.

Claire had a total of 5 great grandchildren, 4 biological who her grandson fathered and 1 bonus great grandson. Shawn, Layla and their brother Derrick from Shawn’s previous relationship and Prime’Mason and Apollo from his present relationship. Claire was a extrovert, made friends everywhere she went however, Claire was very particular with whom she let in her personal life but once you were in she would never forget about you and love you for forever.

Claire greatest pastime was listening to gospel music, crocheting, knitting, sewing, collecting Porcelain dolls, working on puzzles and watching Criminal Minds. She enjoyed celebrating monthly birthdays with her church family, working with her church pantry, as well as going gathering and outings. Claire was a very Independent woman and was always missing in action.

Traveling to places as far Atlantic city and Shopping outlets to places a closet as east tremont phamarcy and Westchester square dollar tree with her walker and handbag. Claire never allowed anything to stop her not even rain, hail,sleet or snow. Claire was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she created a home of warmth, love and leadership.

She was very involved in both her grands and great grands lives always present for Birthdays, Graduations and Holidays. She never forgot to drop off a gift or send out card for all their precious moments and or milestones. If you known Claire personally then you feel like you know here grands and great grands just as well because when she wasnt showing the off via pictures she was talking about gloating about them.

Claire fell at home late last year which in return landed her in the hospital than to a Nursing rehab facility which eventually left her bedridden and unable to care for herself. Her Grandson and his significant other Forev’aa who she called her “Granddaughter” welcomed her into their home. Forev’aa became her primary caretaker/Companion and assisted her with her daily living activities and stood by her side to the very end.

Claire passed in the comforts of Shawn and Forev’aa’s home, holding Shawn’s hand whole listening to her gospel music. Her Grandson son meant the world to her and she waited for him before she transitioned. Although there was no place like home for claire, she loved her “blue room” as she would call it and being around her youngest two great grands everyday.

She got a kick out of Apollo who she called her “boy” and interacted with most because he wouldnot stay out her room or stop touching her stuff. Claire leaves behind: Grandson, Shawn Kydd and his Significant other Forev’aa Haughton, Great grandchildren, Shawn Kydd Jr, Layla Kydd, Derrick Davis, Prime’Mason Kydd-Cortez and Apollo Kydd-Cortez. In addition Claire leaves behind her Church family and a host of friends who were like family who will also miss her dearly.
