Obituary of Claire Walko Claire Gifford Walko, age 87, of Trumbull passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, June 1, 2018. She was the beloved wife of the late William J. Walko. Born in Bridgeport on October 29, 1930, she was a daughter of the late William and Anita Roy Gifford.

Mrs. Walko worked as a secretary for the City of Bridgeport, accumulating 28 years of dedicated service before her retirement in 1995. Claire was a woman of quiet grace and infinite kindness, whose greatest pleasure was showering love and attention on her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed a good cup of tea, and took great pride in finding just the right greeting card for every occasion.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her devoted children, Sharon Garber and her husband Patrick of Trumbull, John Walko, William S. Walko of Trumbull and Melissa Núñez and her husband Alexander of Trumbull. She is also survived by her five cherished grandchildren, Kevin Garber, Stephen Garber, Jillian Núñez, Jason Núñez and Justin Núñez, her sister, Jeannette Kolagic of Fairfield, her brother, Roy Gifford and his wife Rose of Clinton, as well as a host of loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her beloved husband, William, she was also predeceased by her sisters, Lillian Lipnickas and Rita Camp and her brother, William Gifford. Claire was a woman of strong faith, believing in the power and strength of Jesus Christ’s love and the beauty and peace that would await her in passing. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 4, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. directly in St. Stephen Church, 6948 Main St., Trumbull.

Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may greet the family on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd. , Trumbull.
