Obituary for Mr. Claude “Thad” McCallister Claude “Thad” McCallister passed away on August 23, 2018 following a brief illness. Born December 7, 1925 in Spartanburg, SC, he was one of seven children of the late William H. and Florence McCallister. He is survived by his wife Evelyn; son, Neal (Lisa); granddaughter, Megan all of Asheville, NC and a brother, Sonny McCallister of Greer SC.

He served in the United States Navy during WWII. After the service, he worked at Spartanburg General Hospital and then St. Joseph Hospital in Asheville. He retired after 25 years as the purchasing agent for Rutherford Hospital.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:30 PM, Monday, August 27, 2018 in the main lobby of Biltmore Church, 35 Clayton Road, Arden, NC. Burial will be at the NC Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain at a later date. Memorial gifts may be made to the charity or organization of one’s choice.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the medial staff at the Charles George VA Medical Center for the outstanding and compassionate care that was provided to Mr. McCallister (that’s what everyone called him), while in the hospital and at Hospice To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Mr. Claude “Thad” McCallister please visit our Sympathy Store.
