OBITUARY Clayton Browning February 2, 1930 – November 4, 2018 Gene Clayton Browning, 88, passed away on November 4, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam E. Browning, Sr. and Odell Hawkins Browning, and his brothers, Jackie Browning and Sam Browning, Jr He is survived by his wife of of 65 years, Jacqueline Jean Browning; daughter Judy White (Roland); son, Ronnie Browning (Pam); granddaughters, Jennifer Turley (Ben), Christi Perez (John); great-grandchildren, Bailey Perry, Madilyn Miller, Amelia Perez, Caleb Perez, Bella Turley, Olivia Turley, Brooks Turley; sisters-in-law, Phoebe Browning and Joyce Smith; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Clayton was a child of God, loving husband, amazing father, grandfather, and friend. He loved his church and served as an elder for 50 years at the Branchville C.P. Church. He proudly served in the U.S. Army for two years during the Korean War.

He served as Trustee of the Alabama Sheriff’s Boys and Girls Ranches for many years. He retired from American Cast Iron Pipe Company with 35 years’ service. The family is eternally grateful for the wonderful care and love he received from Nicole Hopkins, Santrecia Kelly, the staff at UAB Neurosurgery Unit, Diversicare Rehab of Pell City, and the Branchville C.P. Church.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 2PM at Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds with visitation from 12PM to 2PM and burial to follow at Branchville Cemetery. Pallbearers are Herman Brasher, Ricky Crocker, Ernie Dorsett, Eddie Harless, Gary Martin, and Mickey Thomason. Officiating the service is Brother Lewis Thomas with music by Skip and Lisa Simpson.
