Cleothis “Cle” Thomas was born January 1, 1939 to the late O. T. Thomas and Beulah Mae Thomas in Marion, Alabama. He departed this earthly life on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 1:35pm at the Hospice Home Center while being surrounded by his loving wife Dorothy of 59 years; along with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other loved ones. Cle attended Perry County Schools in Alabama before moving to at the age of 18 to Indiana; where he worked at Troy Laundry for several years before landing a career at General Motor Power-Train Defiance Foundry in 1966.

While Cle worked in several departments, he found his true passion as a Millwright. Cle retired in 2004 after 38 years of service to enjoy spending time with his wife and family. Cle enjoyed traveling back home to Alabama each year with his wife, children, his sister, Gladys Thomas Martin and husband Henry Martin, and their children.

He also enjoyed fishing, cooking, listening to the Blues and driving the latest Cadillac. Cle had a personality like no other. Cle would lead the conversation with, “The Hound is in town;” or “Downtown with Freddy Brown – I’m looking around”.

He loved to leave voice mails for everyone with a catchy phrase so you had no choice but to call him back. Cle would keep in contact with the entire family as he always said, “FAMILY FIRST! ” Cle had a heart of gold when it came to his family.

Cle leaves to cherish his legacy; his wife, Dorothy G. Thomas; sons, Mark (Gloria) Thomas of Fort Worth, Texas; Gary Thomas of Fort Wayne, Indiana; daughters Rhonda (Timothy) Thomas-Hardy, Veronica Thomas both of Fort Wayne, Indiana; grandchildren Dominique Thomas, Avery Veazey, Jr., Chanel Thomas, Jasen Love, Ti’Ron Hardy, Tasha Smily and Davonna Thomas; great-grandchildren Kaiden Bates, Naszir Love all of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and Dominique Thomas, Jr. of Lima, Ohio; sisters, Marjorie Folks of Marion, Alabama, Leana (Johnny) England of Sprott, Alabama, Dorothy King of Marion, Alabama, and a host of special nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Cle will be dearly missed by many. Cleothis (Cle) Thomas is preceded in death by his father; O. T. Thomas; mother, Beulah Huff; step-father, Gobsey Huff; sons, Eric L. Thomas and Parnell Thomas; brother, James Thomas; sisters, Gloria Jean Thomas, Gladys Thomas Martin and Bernice Thomas Alvis.
