OBITUARY Clifford Joseph Francois III January 1, 1941 – September 5, 2018 CLIFFORD JOSEPH FRANCOIS III, entered into eternal rest on September 5, 2018, at the age of 77. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on January 1, 1941 to the late Beatrice Aurora Casey and Clifford Joseph Francois, Jr He is survived by his wife, Jean Catherine Holder, his children Darlene F. Files (David), Clifford J. Francois IV (Windy), and Michelle F. Neyrey (August); grandchildren Maco R. Tannehill, Jr. (Brooke), Maxwell A. Files, John E. Castagnetta, Nicole E. Francois, Haley E. Neyrey and August E. Neyrey IV; and sister Patricia B. Francois.
He was also eagerly looking forward to the arrival of his first great-grandchild, due in February 2019. Cliff was a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 3330. He has been an active member of St. Christopher Martyr Parish for the last 50 years, serving in numerous volunteer positions, such as Co-Chairman of the Parish Fair, Finance Chairman of the Parish Council, and Eucharistic Minister among numerous other volunteer positions.
He was a St. Louis Award Recipient since 1982. He also was a past member of the Evenings for the Engaged Program, who, with his wife, brought the program to St. Christopher Parish when it first began. He and Jean were also members of the Engaged Encounter Program from the inception of the program and served as Senior Couple on numerous weekends.
They also served for a year as the leaders of the program for the New Orleans/Metairie area. Cliff was best known in his Parish as the “Parish Photographer” making himself available for any organization who requested photos of the various Parish activities. He was also the caretaker of the sound system in the church, which he installed, and making sure all sound systems and microphones were always working properly.
He considered St. Christopher his extended home and was available and willing to help wherever needed. Cliff was also an avid amateur photographer and a member of the Greater New Orleans Camera Club. One of his favorite activities was the annual camera club convention.
Cliff worked in the computer industry his entire life and was known to all as a “jack of all trades”, his wife never needing to call a repairman as he could make repairs on just about anything. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. , New Orleans on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery.
