Clifton Ray Bradshaw, 83, loving husband of Phyllis Ann Cobb Bradshaw for 62 years, left his earthly home on Wednesday, May 29. He was born in Fayette County the second of five children on July 23, 1935 to the late Avon, Sr and Fannie Spigles Bradshaw. “Ray” was a charter member of Edgewood Baptist Church where he served as church clerk for 35 years, Deacon and Deacon Emeritis.

For many years he visited the sick in local nursing homes and took them church bulletins weekly. He loved working outdoors and always kept his yard and flowers beautiful. He was a veteran of the US Army having obtained the rank of Spc 4 and served overseas from 1957-1959 and received the Good Conduct Medal.

He also served from 1959–1962 in the National Guard. As a youngster he was active in the 4H and FFA and one of four brothers who all received the American Farmers Award in FFA under the guidance of the late Harlan Veal. He was a Purchasing Agent with the University of Kentucky for 35 years and a Night Manager at Thompson’s Foodtown for 20 years.

He leaves his memories with his loving wife Phyllis Ann Cobb Bradshaw, daughter Robin Elizabeth (Shaun) Martin of Frankfort, daughter Ann Marie (Randy) Shelley of Wilmore, grandchildren Lauren Elizabeth Shelley and Benjamin Ray Shelley, sister Anna Elizabeth Bradshaw, brother Cecil Dean (Helen) Bradshaw, sister-in-law Lena Bradshaw, niece Roxanne (Bill) Sparks, niece Jane (Ryan) Woodward and many other family members. He was preceeded in death by a brother Avon Bradshaw, Jr., a brother and his wife Billy Lee and Marilyn Bradshaw. A Service of Remembrance will be held Tuesday, June 4 at 11:00 at Edgewood Baptist Church, 717 South Main Street Nicholasville.

His family will greet friends from 4-8pm at the church on Monday, June 3. Pall bearers will be Shaun Martin, Randy Shelley, Ben Shelley, Paul (Sankie) Bingham, Cecil Bradshaw, Gordon Cobb, Doug Downing, and Bob Nicholson. Honorary Pall Bearers will be the Deacons of Edgewood Baptist Church.

He will be laid to rest at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Donations may be made to Edgewood Baptist Church. There will be some rough days, with teary eyes and hearts of blue.

But let the love of so many years carry us the rest of the way. Because this is not forever and our souls will meet again one day! Hager & Cundiff is honored to be chosen to care for the Bradshaw Family.
