OBITUARY CMSGT John Francis Stranges U.S. Air Force, Retired April 27, 1935 – July 13, 2018 John F. Stranges, CMSgt, USAF (Ret), 83, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2018 at the Solara Specialty Hospital in McAllen, Texas. John was born in Alliance, Ohio where he also graduated from high school and attended and played football at Mount Union College. He retired from the United States Air Force in 1978 with over 25 years of distinguished military service.

He was also a graduate of the Texas State University and held a Third Degree in the Knights of Columbus. John was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed. He is preceded in death by his mother Lena (Villella) Stranges, father John Stranges, and sister Lois (Stranges) Rampone.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Nancy (Richardson) Stranges; sisters Martha (Stranges) Charlton and Beatrice (Stranges) Davis; son Stephen Stranges and wife Debbie (Gilson) Stranges; daughter Gina (Stranges) Moehlig and husband Scott Moehlig; 3 grandchildren, Paige (Stranges) Clark, Lindsey (Moehlig) Hasdorff, and Dustin Moehlig; 2 great grandchildren, Maisyn Hasdorff and Bishop Clark; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 23, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Colonial Funeral Home in Universal City, Texas. Funeral service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 beginning at 1 p.m. at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas.
