Obituary for Connie Blankenship Murphy Ledell “Connie” Blankenship died January 15, 2019 at her son’s home in Rockwall, Texas. Connie was born in the Bellaire Community near Dermott, Arkansas, on February 6, 1930. In 1945 Connie married Julius Eugene “J.E.” Thompson and had four children, Michael Jay, George Eugene, Susan Joyce and Mary Bess.
In 1965 she married Gilley Rue Blankenship and had no children with him. Mike, George and Mary produced 9 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren: Mike’s were Ralph Michael (wife Doris) of Garland, Texas, Victor Lee Strang (wife Sabrina) of Royse City, Texas and Nastasha Strang of New York City. George’s were Julius Eugene III of Little Rock, Arkansas and April Renee Roberson of Newport, Arkansas.
Mary’s were Malorie Lynn Brown of Harrison, Arkansas, Jessica Michelle Nelson (husband Marquise) of Bearden, Arkansas, Shannon Nicole Thompson of Little Rock, Arkansas and Stacy Ann Powers of Little Rock, Arkansas. Great-grandchildren are: Elena Nelson, Savannah Thompson, Victoria Strang, Eric Thompson, Christopher Zumwalt, Samantha Manees, Kyle Nuehring, Cole Nuehring, Hannah Nuehring, Gabe Brewer, Marquise Nelson, Keairon Nelson, Alex Garrett, Seth Mosely, Kaleah Thompson, Corey Clay, Kobyray Thompson, Karay Thompson, Karayah Thompson, Stanley Bullock and Ryan Bullock. Visitation will be held at 1-2pm Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Temple Baptist Church in Dermott, AR.
Funeral services will follow at 2pm at the church with Rev. Bobby Franklin and Rev. Jody Gannaway officiating.
