A memorial service for Connie Bergland will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, with Rev. John Scherb and Rev. Randy Cirksena officiating.

Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Connie died suddenly on Monday, May 13, 2019 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN at the age of 68. Connie Marie (Garner) Bergland was born on April 4, 1951 in Huron, SD to Walter and Ardith (McLagan) Garner.

Her family would move frequently throughout her childhood. She graduated from Lindberg High School in St. Louis, MO in 1961, and attended a few years of college following. While in St. Louis, she had several jobs, but a favorite of hers was being a Relocator for one of the oldest agencies in St. Louis.

After she moved to Owatonna, MN she worked at Viracon for 10 years before retirement. On December 27, 1999, she was united in marriage to Gary Bergland in Sioux Falls, SD. The couple would make their home in Clarks Grove.

Connie was a member at United Methodist Church in Glenville. She loved her church and her church family. Connie served as the UMW President for years.

Antiques, fishing, refurbishing, and gardening were some of Connie’s favorite activities, and she was known for having very rare Yellow Peonies. Above all, time spent with her family was what made Connie happy. Attending as many grandchildren’s activities as she could was something she always looked forward to.

She was intelligent, loving, and caring. She is preceded in death by both parents; father in-law, Truman; sister, Sandra; brother in-law, Brian Lien; and a nephew, David. Connie is survived by her husband of 19 years, Gary Bergland; children, Tiffany Bergland, Thor (Shelly) Bergland, and Jed (Ayako) Bergland; grandchildren, Kemma, Erick, Nickolas, Breeze, Grace, Odin, London, and Ryu; siblings, Kathryn (Dennis) Huffman and Nathan (Tammy) Garner; mother in-law, Gladys Bergland; brothers and sisters in-law, Gloria (Bob) Sharp, Joann Lien, Sheryl (Richard) Sydnes, Debbie (Brian) Blowers, Todd (Cynthia) Bergland, and Tammy (Jerry) Brua; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.
