OBITUARY Connie Rhoden January 10, 2018 – November 23, 2018 Connie Bennett Rhoden went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 23, 2018 . She was born in Florence, AL on January 10, 1938 to Patsy and Augusta Bennett. She was a graduate of Coffee High School and was happily married for 61 years to Kenneth Eugene Rhoden of Sheffield, AL.

They moved to Birmingham, AL in 2014 to be near family. Connie’s Christian faith was evident in her life and demonstrated through a passion for children. She lived a life of love and service to others.

She taught Sunday School for 35 years, wrote a monthly children’s column in a Christian publication for 13 years and was a contributing author in a book published to raise money for the T. B. Larimore Home in Florence. She and her husband, Kenneth, were recently presented with a 5,000 Volunteer Hours Award by Tennessee Valley Authority’s BVI Volunteer Organization. Left to honor and remember her is husband, Kenneth E. Rhoden, son, Kenneth A. (Cindy) Rhoden, granddaughter, Meagan Sloane Rhoden; Siblings Betty Beadle, Eugene (Beverly) Bennett, and many other family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Charles Bennett and Peggy Bennett Hurst. Visitation will be held Monday, November 26, 2018, 1:00 pm at the Riverchase Church of Christ with a memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Sheffield, AL on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers please make donations to The American Cancer Society, Joe Lee Griffin Hope Lodge.
