Obituary for Constance M. Babine Seabrook, New Hampshire – Constance “Connie” Babine, 85, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2018 after a short illness at her home in Seabrook, NH surrounded by her loving family. Connie was born in Amesbury, Massachusetts on January 18, 1933, the daughter of the late Elsie and Harold McDonald. Connie married her high school sweetheart, John Babine, on August 9, 1952 and together they raised six children who meant the world to them.
Connie’s greatest pride was raising her children and sharing in their successes. During the early part of Connie’s working career, she was a telephone operator after which she stayed at home to support the growth of her children. Connie and her husband John went on to own and operate 110 Liquors and an adjoining furniture store in Amesbury.
She concluded her career by being a long-standing and beloved crossing guard for the Amesbury School Department. Connie’s life was made whole through the wonderful life she shared with her children, but equally her life was enriched by the untiring love she shared with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was happiest during family gatherings where she played cards to all hours of the night, but only if she could keep score!
Connie loved an adventure with her children, as was evidenced by zip lining in New Brunswick, Canada and sailing in a hot air balloon in Presque Isle, Maine at the age of 78 with her daughter Gail’s family, traveling alone to visit her son Keith in Florida and traveling to Europe with her daughter Jill. She cherished her time with her high school girlfriends (fondly remembered as the “SOB’s”) with whom she remarkably gathered with frequently over the past 67 years. The importance of family and friends was the cornerstone of Connie’s life.
Connie was predeceased by her parents, her husband John in 2010 and her first and very special granddaughter, Erica Provencher. Family members include her six children, John Babine Jr. of Amesbury; daughter-in-law, Carol (Thivierge) Babine of Amesbury, Donna Provencher and her husband Larry of Amesbury, Keith Babine and his partner Donna Moyer of Crescent City, Fla. , Gail Hamel, and her husband Brian of Mapleton, Maine, Jill Babine of Amesbury, Robert Babine of Exeter, N.H., daughter-in-law Kathie (Gibbens) Babine of Brentwood, N.H.; nine grandchildren, Jessica Babine, William Babine and fiancée Erica Ricci, Aline Babine and fiancée Luis Chunga-Celis, Natalie (Hamel) Nadeau and her husband Marcus, Abigail (Hamel) Pierce and her husband Drew, Molly (Hamel) Keane and her husband Matt, Jackson Babine, Shea Babine, and Mackenzie Babine; great-grandchildren, Isabella Pierce, Annabelle Pierce, Oliver Pierce, Owen Nadeau, and Crosby Nadeau; a loving sister-in-law Marilyn (Babine) Bourque and her husband Jack, and many nieces and nephews who were an important part of her life.
