Obituary for Mrs. Constance Elizabeth (Moore) Perry Constance Elizabeth (Moore) Perry We cherish the life of an octogenarian mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother, Constance Elizabeth (Moore) Perry. She was born Constance E. Moore in Philadelphia, PA on October 27, 1932 to the loving parents of Joseph Dale and Ruth Elizabeth Moore. She quietly fell asleep early in the morning, Thursday, December 6, 2018, at the Huntersville Health & Rehabilitation Center, Huntersville, NC, at the blessed age of 86 years.

She was brought by her family to Providence, RI at the age of nine only staying for a few short years before the family moved, this time, to Wilmington, DE. There she excelled in the public school system and graduated from Wilmington High School. It was there that Constance endured damage to her eyesight when a mischievous teenager threw an ice ball, disguised as a snowball, which altered her life.

After several operations she became saddled with a lasting infirmity. After graduating the family returned to Rhode Island. Undaunted by this debilitating physical setback, she married Mark Perry; mothered six children; and enjoyed a family life which spanned four generations.

It was not uncommon for her loved ones to say to her, “I love you,” only often to hear her say, “I love you more! ” Bequeathed to her was a rich spiritual legacy of the Church of God and Saints of Christ that began with Bishop William Henry Plummer her grandfather, codified by Rabbi Howard Zebulun Plummer, GFA her uncle, and enhanced by Rabbi Levi Solomon Plummer, GFA, her cousin. St. Constance was a life-long member of First Tabernacle Bethel, Providence, RI.

In 2015, with failing health, she moved to Charlotte, NC where she received family love, saintly care, visitation, Ministerial prayer and spiritual uplift by the saints of Second Tabernacle Bethel at the nursing home facility until she ultimately fell asleep. St. Connie never let her visual impairment hinder her life. She was meticulous and fashionable, with a unique ability to feel a fabric and judge its quality.

Before she made a selection, she would ask one of her children to describe in intricate detail the design of the item. That was the outside, but on the inside, existed a woman of refinement, intellect, wisdom, and compassion. The words in biblical Proverbs are descriptive, “she looketh well to the ways of her household and eateth not the bread of idleness”.

In spite of her family obligations, St. Connie had many friends and business associates who held her in high esteem. She had the ability to use “the king’s language” articulate, enunciate with clarity, yet could verbally render language commensurate with the occasion. She brought inspiration, motivation and a deep desire to help others, in the workplace in such places as OIC, National Park Service, and the RI Department of Labor and Training, from which, she retired.

She was active in volunteerism being a respected member of the Board of Directors at the Wiggins Village Housing Complex, and the Providence Building Sanitary Association. Saint Connie is predeceased by her husband Mark Perry, and oldest daughter, Dawn Perry. She leaves to mourn five children; Eric Moore (Ibrahim Abdus-Sabur), Terese Perry, Brian Perry, Thea Lacey (Mark), and Stacey Fairweather (Alphonso deceased); 13 grandchildren, Dennis Perry, Theadore Perry, Evonne Cummings, Nikki Lacewell (Dennis), Michael Perry (Lorene), Mark Perry, Talitha Perry, Roxanne Jadama (Nfamara), Rodney Perry, D’Wight Perry, Marquese Jones, Marcel Jones, and Stacey Jones; 25 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.
