Coral A. (Lohse) Hamann, widow of Glenn M. Hamann, passed away on September 23, 2018, resting comfortably at home. Coral was born in Brisbane, Australia on December 8, 1943 to Arthur and Thelma (McGuire) Lohse. Coral’s family moved to Clinton, Iowa (her father’s birthplace) during her early childhood.

Coral married Glenn Hamann (Clinton IA) on May 8, 1964. After her husband’s retirement from the U.S. Navy (1972), the two built a life together, raising their children in Rothbury, MI where Coral and Glenn comfortably celebrated 46 years of marriage before Glenn’s passing in 2010. Coral has resided in the home ever since.

Besides raising her family, Coral enjoyed hobbies like camping, traveling, and crafting, sewing and quilting. She often showered her loved ones with these homemade gifts. Coral also spent a great portion of her life being involved the VFW Post 3256 of Montague, MI.

Coral is survived by one sibling, Gary Lohse of Blue Grass, Iowa, whom has stayed close throughout her life. Coral is also survived by her children: Leann Hamann McGowan (Rothbury), John (Michelle) Hamann (Montague), Kyle Hamann (Rothbury), step-daughter Micki Stanislawski (Nora Springs, IA), and daughter-in-law, Mary Hamann. Coral’s surviving grandchildren are Tami Edwards (Livonia), Jim Edwards (Hesperia), Aaron Olson (Nora Springs, IA); Alex, Merritt, and Kyra Hamann (Rothbury); Kate, Cassidy, Brie, and Grady Hamann (Montague); Dylan Rowe (Whitehall) and Jacob W. Hamann.

She was also survived by one great-grandchild, Shavar Hamann (Rothbury). In addition to her husband, Coral was preceded in death by her firstborn, Michael S. Hamann. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, September 28, 2018 with a visitation hour taking place at 1 pm at Harris Funeral Home in Shelby, MI.
