OBITUARY Corinne Ann Cirone August 17, 1938 – October 6, 2018 Corinne, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, October 6 surrounded by her family. Corinne grew up in the small farm town of Delmont, South Dakota. She was the youngest girl in a family of four brothers and two sisters who were faithful Catholics, hard workers and very musical.

Corinne’s mother, Gertrude Hand Loos, was a piano teacher and organist and her father, Matthias, owned a market and furniture store. Corinne had humble beginnings growing up on a farm. She would recall chilly snow days when running home from school in her ragged hand-me-down shoes, “I’d get back to the house and not go inside to warm up.

I’d stick my feet, shoes and all, into the first warm cow pie I saw. That got them warm quick! ” She is an alumnus of Mt.

Marty College in Yankton, SD and moved to Omaha to live with her 3 brothers while they attended Creighton University. She sang during her time in Omaha as a member of the “Flamettes” and also with her siblings “Matt’s Music Makers”. A housemate of her brothers was Richard Cirone.

They fell in love and were married on August 13, 1963. After a two year commitment with the Indian Health Service on the Pueblo Indian Reservation, they moved to San Jose, Richard’s hometown. Corinne grew up knowing how to be very frugal and laughed at a good joke.

She never asked for anything and was very appreciative of the gifts, travels, and other special gestures her beloved husband Richard would give her. They loved traveling in their RV to go back to the Mid-West to play stickball, fish, play cards, have slingshot or skipping rock contests or go pheasant hunting with her siblings. She loved cooking and relished putting her own spin on a recipe and made the best apple pie, meatloaf and “leftover soup” from whatever she had in the refrigerator.

St. Christopher’s Parish is another big part of her life. She sang in the church choir and the “Rhythm and Truth” band for 45 years and enjoyed the friendships and service to her faith community. It was this strength in her faith that helped her through her diagnosis of Type 1 Diabetes in 1971 and other health issues through the years.

She never let on that she was struggling or in pain. Her devotion to her faith, her husband, her family, and her pet dogs were the reason she persevered. She will have a lasting effect on the Willow Glen community and her family’s lives.

She is survived by four children: Sara Cirone Brown, Peggy Cirone Shaw, Richard “Rocci” Cirone, and Joseph Cirone. Grandchildren: Kevin Doyle, Jr., Kelsey Mejia, Moira Doyle, Caterina Shaw, Bianca Shaw, Ryan Doyle, Truman Cirone, and Richard George Cirone. Great-Grandchildren: Bennett and Charlotte Mejia.

Rosary will be held on Wednesday, October 10th at 7:00pm at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary. Her Funeral Mass is scheduled at St. Christopher’s Church at 4 pm on Thursday, October 11th. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a memorial donation be made to one of two non-profit organizations: American Diabetes Association or the Nike Animal Rescue Foundation (NARF).
