OBITUARY Cristina and Hector Guerra March 15, 1932 – September 14, 2018 Play Tribute Movie Hector “El Cabrito” Guerra and his wife of 62 years, Cristina Guerra, brought salsa and tropical music to Houston. As Houston legends, Hector with his trumpet, and Cristina, with her lovely voice, created beautiful music at “El Cabrito Club” and “Hector’s Club” as well as many other venues including New Year’s Eve Galas at the Shamrock Hilton’s Grand Ball Room entertaining hundreds. As a young man, Hector performed with The Orchestra Falcon as well as with The Henry King Orchestra.
He performed at the Inaugural Ball for President John Fitzgerald Kennedy and proudly played The National Anthem at The Astrodome for an Astros game. Aside from his talent of playing the trumpet, Hector was a great father and was known to bring smiles and laughter to everyone he met. Holiday parties were especially fun filled with music and laughter.
Before joining Hector in the entertainment business, Cristina devoted many years to raising their 7 children. She was the hostess of many gatherings and a master in the kitchen. Her spirit of hospitality ensured that all those who entered their home were comfortable and well fed.
Hector and Cristina will be remembered for these things as well as countless others, and they will be dearly missed by all who knew them. They leave behind their 7 children, sons Hector Jr and Armando. Daughters “las cabritas” Diana, Martha, Laura, Frances and Lisa.
11 grandchildren, Christina, Kaleigh, Carlie, Michelle, Daniel, Rex, Lauren, Julian, Levi, Johnathan and Sarah. 2 great-grandchildren Andrea and Austin, all of whom they adored. Together again, in the Light and Love of Our Lord and Savior, they will surely make beautiful music for the rest of eternity.
A memorial service for Hector and Cristina Guerra will be conducted on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 10:00 am in The Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77024. FAMILY They leave behind their 7 children, sons Hector Jr and Armando. Daughters “las cabritas” Diana, Martha, Laura, Frances and Lisa.
