Cynthia M. “Cindy” Fiers, 59, of rural Coal Valley, passed away Friday, May 10, 2019, at University Hospital & Clinics, Iowa City, IA. A Funeral Mass to celebrate her life will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Thursday, May 16, 2019, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Colona. Father Peter Zorjan will officiate.

Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery, Coal Valley. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, from 4-7 p.m. at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel. A Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. In Cindy’s honor, the family requests casual wear of purple, John Deere or racing attire for the visitation and funeral.

Memorials may be directed to Quad City Animal Welfare Center or Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure. Cindy was born on August 8, 1959, in Galesburg. She married Kevin Fiers on May 11, 1990, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Colona.

Cindy graduated from Orion High School in 1977. While in high school, Cindy was very close to her classmates and cherished their friendship. Cindy was employed at Deere and Company for 38 years.

She retired from the computer security department. She enjoyed walks around the grounds at lunchtime. She advocated for breast cancer awareness and the Susan Komen Race for the Cure.

She volunteered with Mission Meals, loved listening to Dwyer & Michaels in the mornings, loved her animals, and was an avid Bears and Illini fan. She especially enjoyed watching her son during the Cordova Drag Races. She loved the color purple, passionately!

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Kevin; son, Josh Fiers, Orion, and many other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, stepdad, grandparents, and mother. Donations may be made to: Susan Komen Race For the Cure Web: ww5.
