Cynthia’s Obituary Kittery- Cynthia L. Kuliga, 61, of 30 Wyman Ave in Kittery died on Mother’s Day following a courageous battle against cancer. Born in Farmington, Maine on November 11, 1957 she was a daughter of Sally (Wiggin) Cates and Howard Cates. She was raised in North Hampton and attended Winnacunnet High School graduating with the class of 1975.

She furthered her education at Westbrook College and graduated from New England School of Photography in Boston in 1979. She married her loving husband John Kuliga in October of 1985 and together they lived for a time in Massachusetts prior to marriage before settling in Kittery to raise their family. Cindy worked for a time producing and developing the works of photographer Joel Meyerowitz who is well known for his work capturing the beauty of the Cape.

She worked at Liberty Mutual before and after her children were born. She also worked in the restaurant industry and particularly enjoyed her time with Julie Reed Dunfey Catering. Most recently she took pride in her work for the Kittery Land Trust.

Cindy was aspunky, unreserved and generous one of a kind person. She was always volunteering for many of the school activities and fundraisers throughout the Kittery School System while her kids were growing. She could often be seen staffing the concession stand at the baseball field or cooking for a fundraiser.

She was an active charter member of the Kittery Rotary After Hours Club and was a beloved second mother to anyone of her kid’s friends and the entire neighborhood. Cindy worshipped the sun. She loved to travel, spend time at the beach and gardening, these were some of her favorite activities.

Her first love was unquestionably her family and time spent with them was cherished. She is survived by her husband John, her three children, Kyle, Cameron and Caroline. Her mother Sally (Wiggin)Lewis and Step Father, Calvin Lewis, her three brothers, Bradford, Ronald and James Cates and her niece and nephew, Kayla and Jimmy Cates.

She was predeceased by her father Howard Cates. Friends are invited to visit with her family on Saturday May 18, 2019 from 12-2:30pm in the JS Pelkey and Son Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road Kittery, Maine 03904. After there will be a time of Remembrance and Sharing to be celebrated at 2:30pm, please bring your stories of Cindy to share.
