Obituary 1953 ~ 2019 Cynthia Lucille (Richins) France (age 66) of Murray, Utah returned to her Father in Heaven on May 18, 2019. She peacefully departed this life while at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to the late Lowell Oscar and Esther Lucille (Beckett) Richins on February 26, 1953.

Cynthia graduated from Skyline High School in 1971 and received a B. A. in Home Economics Education from Utah State University in 1975. On September 12, 1975, she married her sweetheart, Paul, in the Salt Lake Temple. They raised three wonderful children, Christina, Lisa, and David.

Cynthia was well known for her lovely gardens. Neighbors and friends enjoyed the fruits of her labors, so much so that she was nominated for and won the Mayor’s Beautification Award for Murray City, Utah three different years. Her artistry was also evident in her talents with photography, painting, needlework, decorating, and many other arts and crafts.

She brought beauty and light to everything and everyone she touched. Cynthia’s love of music permeated her home and blessed the lives of those she loved. She enjoyed playing the piano, singing, and serving as chorister.

Her love of music has been passed on to future generations through children and grandchildren who also play instruments, sing, and conduct music. Some of her favorite music included hymns, primary songs, and classical selections. Many who knew her were blessed by her talents in the kitchen.

Cynthia loved to collect and test new recipes and often shared delicious creations with friends and family. Her kitchen was a place of love, warmth, and unity. Cynthia’s love of music and her passion for cooking made her home a wonderful blend of delightful smells and resounding music.

Cynthia was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and faithfully served in many callings. The Jordan River Temple and her testimony of her Savior were her refuge from the storms of life. Having worked in that temple in various positions for many years, she would often say “This is my temple” with great reverence and love.

Her love of serving there is one of many examples of the love that she felt for others. She was in tune with the Holy Spirit and when prompted to serve, she would simply and quietly go and do. When you were with her, you were at ease, you felt her love for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and you would know that He loved you.

Indeed, if you’ve met her then you know that without a doubt, our Savior has welcomed her home into his loving embrace, stating, “Well done, Cynthia! Thou good and faithful servant! ” She is survived by her loving husband, E. Paul France; her three children: Christina Marie France, Lisa Anne Winters, David Paul France (Antoinette); and her two brothers, Philip (Linda) and Tom (Jan).

She has seven beautiful grandchildren, whom she loves with all her heart. In addition to her late parents, she was predeceased by her elder sister, Rebecca McClatchy. Cynthia will be dearly missed.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 24, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Highland Ward building, 932 West Green Oaks Drive, Murray, Utah. Viewings will be held on Thursday, May 23, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home, 4760 South State Street, Murray, and on Friday, May 24, from 9:00-9:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Interment will be at Elysian Burial Gardens, Salt Lake City, Utah.

The France family extends our appreciation to the physicians, nurses, and aids of Utah Cancer Specialists who assisted her throughout her battle with cancer.
