Dale Lynn Benson, 67, of Worms, died at his home on Tuesday, May 14, 2019. Funeral services will be on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Worms, with Rev. Craig Niemeier officiating.

Visitation will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Worms on Friday, May 17th from 5-7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Zion Lutheran Church or to the donor’s choice. Condolences may be sent to the family at www. soltwagnerfuneral.com.

Dale was born on February 26, 1952 in Grand Island to Clarence and Louise (Frauen) Benson. Dale grew up in the Worms area and attended Zion Lutheran School. He then attended Central City High School, where he graduated in 1970.

Following graduation, Dale attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art in 1974. On June 17, 1972, Dale and Janet (Martin) married in Grand Island at the Presbyterian Church. Following Dale’s graduation from college, they moved back to the Worms area where he worked with his dad and brothers on the family farm.

Dale raised hogs for over 25 years, in addition to growing crops and selling seed corn. Dale and Janet built a home on the family farm in 1981, where they enjoyed frequent visits with family and friends, especially over the past few years. Dale enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf as well as continuing his love for art.

His greatest love was spending time with his grandchildren, especially getting their special hugs. He was a lifelong member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Worms, serving as Chairman, Treasurer and Elder. He was a 4-H Leader with the Junior Farmhands 4-H Club, as well as a board member of the Merrick County FSA, and the Nebraska Pork Producers.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Janet, of Worms; his children: Brian (Linda) Benson of Waverly, Kelly (Doug) McHargue of Central City, and Jaci (Bobby Nickolite) Benson of Lincoln; his siblings, Chris Benson of Lincoln, Birger (Connie) Benson of Worms, and Larry (Aimee) Benson of Worms; and his six grandchildren, Haleigh, Kyle, and Keegan Benson of Waverly, Elaina and Luke McHargue of Central City, and Cooper Nickolite of Lincoln. He was preceded in death by his parents: Clarence and Louise Benson and infant sister, Margaret Ann Benson. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Dale L.
