Dan Paul Illig, 63, passed away at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh PA on September 22, 2018 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on February 11, 1955, in Johnstown, PA to Ronald and Francis Illig. Dan is survived by his loving wife Annette (Kiel) Illig; daughter Jocelyn (Chase) Rowe of Pittsburgh, PA; daughter Kaitlin (Jake) Thomas of Pittsburgh, PA; and 5 grandchildren including: Nolan, Annie, and Harper Rowe; Carter and Cameran Thomas.

He is also survived by his mother Francis Illig, sister in law Judy Illig, sister Joanne (Phil) Zeigler, brother Tim (Connie) Illig, Terry (Becky) Illig, Tom (Kathy) Illig, Karen (Mike) Gallucci, Brian Illig, Arlene Illig, Carl (Beth) Illig, Janet (Bob) Zabrosky, Chad (Kristy) Illig. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to Barry Little, Frank Wyland, and Barry Eckenrode for their relentless support. Dan courageously battled leukemia for the past two years and recently suffered complications from an illness following his stem cell transplant. After graduating from Bishop Carroll High School in 1973, Dan went on to work at the Ebensburg Center where he loved working with adults with various disabilities.

Everyone who knew Dan felt his compassion and empathy for others. Dan was a music fanatic and loved reading. He was a member of the Immergrun Golf Club for many years.

His time on this earth was spent doing all of the things that he loved. Dan was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his wife, daughters, son-in-laws, and grandchildren in addition to spending time at camp with his brothers.

A special thank you to the Hillman Cancer Center and all the employees on the 7th floor. He will truly be missed by each and every one of us. At the request of the Dan, there will be no viewing.

A private service and celebration of Dan’s life will commence at a later date.
