Dan William Smith, 67, of Arkansas City, died Friday (April 13, 2018) at his residence. Cremation has been effected and family services are scheduled for a later date. Dan was born July 17, 1950, in Gillette, Wyoming, to William Robert James Smith and Delma Lucille (Green) Smith.

He was reared and educated in Lead, South Dakota. He was married earlier in life and had two children, Melissa and Dan, Jr. Dan worked as a gold miner, truck driver, and locally as a machinist for Calmar of… Read More » Winfield. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion.

Survivors include a daughter Melissa Smith of Denver, CO and a son Dan, Jr. of Rapid City, SD; a brother Clyde and wife Arlis Smith of Spearfish, SD; sister Alena Coon of Arkansas City; two grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Richard and Terry Smith and an infant sister. Arrangements are being made through the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home and Crematory of Arkansas City, Kansas.
