Daniel Arthur Diederich, 69, Wahpeton, ND, passed away on Friday, July 20, 2018 at Essentia Health, Fargo, ND. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 26 from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. followed by the memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton. There will be a gathering at Terrace Lane immediately following the burial at Calvary Cemetery.

Dan was born on February 17, 1949 in Breckenridge MN to Art and Teddy Diederich. He attended St. Johns Elementary School and Wahpeton High School before enlisting in the U.S. Marines and serving in Vietnam. From a young boy, Dan developed a passion for bowling.

His father, Art, bought the Zenith Club in 1950 and then built Terrace Lanes in 1960. Dan grew up with this business, and upon his return from Vietnam, he went to follow his passion, bowling. Dan worked at Terrance Lanes his entire life and it was his ‘true home’ through his final breath.

His love for bowling lead him to meet his bride of 42 years, Nancy Youngquist. Married in 1976, Dan and Nancy had two children – Doug and Darcy. Dan had many hidden talents including dancing, grilling, drawing, and trivia (especially western movies).

He enjoyed socializing with anyone that would come into the Lanes and teaching the approach to a solid strike. Outside of bowling, his favorite hobby was golfing. He golfed day in and day out, 18 to 36 holes on a nice day.

He especially enjoyed every moment he spent with his grandchildren. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Teddy. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Diederich; his son, Doug Diederich (Elisa), and daughter, Darcy Flinn (Jason); grandchildren, Broden (15), Preston (12), Emma (5) and Hannah (3); his sister, Debbie Gietzen (Doug); and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.
