OBITUARY Daniel Barrett July 11, 1933 – August 30, 2018 Age 85 of Woodbury – Passed away peacefully on August 30, 2018. Loving father, grandfather and friend. Preceded in death by parents Michael and Johanna, and wife Dolores.

Survived by children Mary, Dan (Trish), Diane (Sig), Matthew (Mary), Mark, Steve (Denise), and Teri (Nate); grandchildren Molly, Matthew, Margaret (Maggie), Patrick, Meghan, Bridget, Emily, Paxton and Presley; sister Patricia; brother- and sister-in-law Tom & Gerri Ulness; brother-in-law Paul Burnett; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends. Always an adventuresome sort, a teenage Dan hitchhiked out west to clear logging roads in California and the Pacific Coast for the WPA. After graduating from Cretin High in 1951, Dan had a four-year stint in the US Navy, and served on the USS Bennington.

After the Navy, Dan graduated from the College of St Thomas — followed by a Masters degree in Industrial Relations from the University of Minnesota, which he leveraged into a 30-year career in Ramsey County’s Labor Relations department. He was a long-time instructor at Metropolitan State University, University of St. Thomas and Minnesota State University-Mankato. Mass of Christian Burial 10AM Wednesday, September 5 at GUARDIAN ANGELS CATHOLIC CHURCH (8260 4th St. N., Oakdale).

Interment in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations appreciated to the Our Lady of Peace hospice, where Dan volunteered for many years.

Special thanks to Our Lady of Peace for their loving care and compassion. FAMILY Daniel was preceded in death by Parents, Michael and Johanna; and Wife, Dolores. He is survived by Children, Mary, Dan (Trish), Diane (Sig), Matthew (Mary), Mark, Steve (Denise), and Teri (Nate); Grandchildren, Molly, Matthew, Margaret (Maggie), Patrick, Meghan, Bridget, Emily, Paxton and Presley; Sister, Patricia; Brother- and Sister-In-Law, Tom & Gerri Ulness; Brother-In-Law, Paul Burnett; and many Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Neighbors and Friends.
