Daniel Joseph Ramel May 22, 1951 – December 19, 2018 Share this obituary Local Florists View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Daniel Joseph Ramel, 67, of Macon, MO, passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at the University Hospital in Columbia, MO. Dan was born on May 22, 1951, in Kansas City, MO, the son of Frank E. and Margaret (Oxley) Ramel. He was united in marriage to Donna Brady, who blessed him with three children, Kathleen, Ryan, and Kelly.

Dan lived in Kansas City, MO and worked as an independent furniture sales representative. Dan later moved to Macon, MO where he met Wendy Garner. They fell madly in love and were married.

Dan lovingly accepted her four children, Desiree, T. J., Angelica, and Jasmine, as they were his own. Dan had a profound love of nature and was an avid outdoorsman. He instilled this love in the young men that were closest to him.

Dan was very hard working and took pride in what he built; he took pride in the accomplishments of those who learned from him. Dan was very generous, kind, patient, selfless, witty and charming. He endeavored to make his home harmonious and welcoming.

He had a knack for making others feel comfortable by including everyone. He never knew a stranger. He was often teased being called “hostess with the mostest”.

He showed love by spending time with and helping those he cared for. Dan woke up everyday thinking of ways to make his wife happy. Dan had a great sense of humor.

He loved telling jokes and was known to coax a laugh from a stranger by surprising the car next to him with a “Papa Smurf” puppet. Dan had a contagious smile that lit up a room. Dan spent his days on the farm hunting, fishing, gardening, planting food plots, clearing roads and raising buildings.

Dan loved spending time with friends, many of nearly 50 years. He cherished each one of them through service, lending a hand wherever he could. Dan made countless memories with his loved ones.

He was a very affectionate and loving father and husband. Dan truly lived life to the fullest enjoying every waking moment and living life on his terms. He was a treasure to those who knew him, and his passing has left a hole in the hearts of so many.

Dan is survived by his wife, Wendy, of the home; seven children, Katie Yates and her husband Aaron, Kelly Ramel, Ryan Ramel, Desiree Gardner, T.J. Gardner and his wife Angie, Angelica Johnson, and Jasmine Knox and her husband Scott; several grandchildren, three brothers, David Ramel, Jim Ramel, and George Ramel; and several nieces, nephews, in-laws, and other extended family members. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Calvin Long, niece Rita Ramel and nephew Scott Ramel. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon, with Bro.

Jim Bolin officiating. Burial will be in the Blomberg Cemetery southwest of Atlanta, MO. Visitation will be Thursday afternoon from 1 pm until the time of service at the funeral home.

Family suggests memorials to the Randy Johnson Memorial Fund or Vietnam Veterans of America.
