Obituary Daniel Louis Paar, age 65 of Trezevant, TN, formerly of Canton, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 17, 2019. He was born on June 9, 1953 in Canton, OH, the son of Jean Wiesel Paar and the late Louis Herbruck Paar. Dan was a PROUD member of law enforcement for 47 years.

His blood ran blue! He started his career at 18 years old at the Norton Police Department followed by Summit County Sheriff Department. Dan then moved to his beloved Tennessee.

He started on Jackson Tennessee Police Department and he founded and was the first Lt. Of the DUI task force before moving to Madison County Tennessee Sheriff Department. At Madison County Tennessee Sheriff Department he worked his way up to ASSISTANT CHIEF.

After his retirement Dan worked at Carroll County Tennessee Sheriff Department. Dan has also worked for Perry Township, Ohio Police Department and part time at Henderson County Tennessee Sheriff Department. Dan was the founder of Area Wide Protective which is now the largest traffic flagging company in the United States.

Dan was a very involved in HAM radios. He was known by many as WV8W. Dan was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, The Moose, The Elks, The Eagles and multiple HAM RADIO groups.

He is survived by his wife, Amy May Paar of Trezevant, TN; son Shane (Laura) Paar of Jackson, TN; daughter Risa Paar of Trezevant, TN; mother Jean Paar of Canton; his grandchildren Dallas, Berkley and Rylar; cousin Michele Catoline (Rachael Cohen, Brent Cohen) of St Louis, MO and MaryBeth Catoline of FL; his best friend of 55 years who was like a brother, Jim Lincoln of Canton. Friends may call Tuesday from 8:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at the Basilica of Saint John the Baptist with The Very Reverend John Sheridan, STL – Rector as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be directed to Bancorp South, 2850 North Highland Avenue, Jackson, TN 38305 for the benefit of his daughter, Risa Paar in care of Amy Elizabeth Paar.
