Daniel N. Zalek went to be with God on September 16. 2018. He had been admitted to Tri-Point, was critically ill and could not overcome all the difficulties.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Olga (Virant) Zalek and his father, Frank Zalek Sr. Daniel is survived by his wife, Pamela Zalek; brother, Frank (Adele) Zalek Jr.; step-son, Brandon (Christina) Smead; and granddaughters, Paityn and Morgan. Dan lived his entire life in Fairport Harbor. He had been in a nursing home the past 5 years due to a stroke.

He graduated from Fairport Harding High School, Class of 73. He participated in basketball, football and track. He was a member of the American Slovenian Club, the Hungarian Culture Club, VFW Post 7754, and the former Painesville Eagles.

Dan loved his sports teams…the Cleveland Browns, Indians, Cavs and of course, he especially loved the OSU Buckeyes. He absolutely adored his cat, affectionately called “Pooh-Poohs”. Funeral services will be private.

Thanks to all for your love and support. Dan is now at home with God.
