He fought hard in the final months of life but is now celebrating with our Lord finally experiencing that special day of eternal life. Dan was born on March 24, 1956 in the Bronx, NY to our adoring parents Amador and Ramona Vargas.

He had a wealth of knowledge of all baseball stats right off the top of his head. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan as he was of Texas Tech. He loved spending time and making memories with family and friends.

He enjoyed listening to all types of music. He was a loyal friend to so many and would never thought twice about lending a helping hand whenever someone asked or was in need. All these will be treasured memories of Dan.

Dan is survived by his sister Diana Vargas Barr, her husband William (Bill) K. Barr and their three children; Christopher Kenneth Barr, Stephen Matthew Barr (godson and nephew) and Katherine Jeannette Barr (goddaughter and niece) (whom he would say they were like his own) of McKinney, Texas. He will forever live in our hearts and each time we watch a Rangers, Cowboy or Texas Tech game, we will remember his love of the sports. The moment that you died our hearts were torn in two, one side filled with heartache, the other died with you.

We often lie awake at night, when the world is fast asleep, and take a walk down memory lane, with tears upon our cheeks. Remembering you is easy, we will do it every day, but missing you is a heartache that will never go away. We will hold you tightly within our hearts and there you will remain, until the joyous day arrives, that we will meet again.
