Daniel “Danny” Mariano Mendoza, age 79, passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2019 in Las Vegas. He was born May 8, 1939 in New York, New York to Mariano Cardenas Mendoza and Catherine Sedlak. On August 31, 1968 he married Yvonne Yvette Maxam in Corona, California and then one year later they were sealed in the Mesa Arizona Temple on August 31, 1969.

Danny grew up in southern California on the family farm in Imperial Valley. He graduated from Imperial High School and completed cosmetology school in Las Vegas. He and Yvonne met while working in a beauty shop in Riverside, California.

They chose to raise their family in Prescott, Arizona. Over the years they owned and operated several beauty salons. They moved to Overton, Nevada in 1988 where they opened “The Wild Hair” salon.

Danny loved serving as scoutmaster. He loved the outdoors and teaching survival skills to the young men. If you couldn’t reach Danny, he was probably out fishing.

Survivors include his two sons and two daughters: Corey (Robin) of Chino Valley, AZ; Scott (Sara) of Henderson, NV; Marcie (Randall) Schear of St. George, UT; Kerry Cutler of Las Vegas, NV; six grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne on May 18, 2010. Graveside services will be held Monday, January 28, 2019 at 10:40 a.m. at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City, NV under the direction of Moapa Valley Mortuary.

A visitation will be held Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Moapa Valley Mortuary, 5090 N. Moapa Valley Blvd. , Logandale, NV.
