On July 6, 1956, Darlene married Gailen Hoover in a double wedding ceremony in Las Vegas that also included her twin sister, Arliene and her fiancee, Robert Hull. The couple made their home in California for a couple years before moving to Ogallala, where Darlene worked at Goodall’s. Darlene and Gailen were blessed with 5 children, Clinton, Calvin, Russell, Lisa, and Dee Ann.

Darlene’s 30+ year career spanned across the changes at Goodall Manufacturing that would eventually transition into TRW, and ultimately, ASC. After her retirement in May of 1995, Darlene and Gailen enjoyed wintering in Texas, where they made some excellent friends over the years. Their RV trips to Texas would come to an end when her health began to decline in 2005.

Darlene was a member of the United Congregational Church where she loved teaching Sunday School classes. She also volunteered at The Jumble Shop quite often. Having a twin sister was something that was always special to Darlene.

She maintained a very close bond with her sister throughout life, and their families spent a great deal of time together over the years. She was a lover of animals, especially her dog Bella, and all the dogs that preceded her. She loved anything that involved sunflowers and liked spending time working on crossword puzzles.

Darlene also enjoyed a good country song, as well as spending time camping and fishing; preferably both at Lake McConaughy. Darlene was an enthusiastic Husker Volleyball fan and was even more passionate about following her grandchildren throughout their athletic endeavors. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; son, Clinton; grandchild, Kristin Kintz; and two brothers, Dwain and Burdette.

Survivors include her husband, Gailen Hoover of Ogallala; her children, Cal (Terri) Hoover of Paxton, Russ (Tami) Hoover of Altoona, WI, Lisa (Jim) Kintz of Ogallala, Dee McCroden of Morrison, CO, Steve McCroden of Ogallala; grandchildren, Megan Bassett of Bakersfield, CA, Vince Hoover of Ogallala, Dan (Carly) Hoover of Littleton, CO, Nate (Cassie) Hoover of Marshall, WI, Alex Hoover of Hastings, MN, Kayla (Trevor) Junge of Crawford, Stuart (Chelsey) of Lincoln, Andrew McCroden of Hastings, NE, Molly McCroden of Highlands Ranch, CO; 8 great-grandchildren, Mia, Mason, Miles, Antonio, Amiliana, Joss, Silas, and Dawsyn; her two sisters, Arliene Hull and Beverly Biesemeier, both of Denver, CO; along with many other relatives and friends.
