Obituary for Darrell D. Wilson Darrell D. Wilson, age 60, of Rensselaer passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 27, 2018, after completing a semi delivery in Youngstown, Ohio. Darrell was born on February 2, 1958, in Tompkinsville, Kentucky, the son of Comer and Bonnie (Gass) Wilson. He attended school in Gamaliel, Kentucky.
On November 16, 1991, in Rensselaer, Indiana Darrell married Karen K. Swartz who survives. He was an over-the-road truck driver, being self employed for more than forty years. Darrell was a member of both the Trinity United Methodist Church in Rensselaer and the New Liberty General Baptist Church in Gamaliel, Kentucky.
An outdoor enthusiast, Darrell enjoyed caring for his livestock and driving his Farmall tractor. He loved watching old westerns, being at home with his family and being a fan of the Indianapolis Colts. Darrell was a devoted husband and father whose greatest joy was found in being with his sons and his family.
Surviving with his loving wife Karen are three sons, Jon Wilson of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Jacob Wilson of Rensselaer, Indiana and Justin Wilson of West Lafayette, Indiana, his sister, Shirley McLeary, and three brothers, Larry (Yolanda) Wilson, Harold (Mary) Wilson and Denzil (Marielle) Wilson. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Comer and Bonnie Wilson, two sisters and five brothers.
Friends will be received at the Jackson Funeral Chapel in Rensselaer on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. CDT. Funeral services for Darrell will be held at 10:30 A.M. CDT on Thursday, November 1, 2018, at the Jackson Funeral Chapel in Rensselaer with Pastor John Hostetter officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Rensselaer, Indiana.
Memorials are suggested by the family to the Education Fund at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Rensselaer or to the New Liberty General Baptist Church, 7241 Bugtussle Road, Gamaliel, KY 42140.
