Born on August 14, 1968 to Samuel and W. Agnes Nash, “Daboo” as he was affectionately called, was a bundle of joy, who never met a stranger. On Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at 1:30 pm at Duke Hospital in Durham NC, he gained the victory over a 35-year battle with Juvenile Diabetes, as he was diagnosed at the age of 15.
Daboo joined the Greater Galilee Baptist Church at an early age. He faithfully attended during his youthful and teenage years, with his mom, who he referred to as his “#1 Girl”. He knew the Lord and accepted him as his personal savior.
Daboo was educated in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School system, graduation from Harding High School. He worked various jobs after high school and was most recently employed at Schaefer plastic bins. Daboo was a master at Chess and called himself the (Scrabble King).
He created words that was unheard of and could always show them to you in the Scrabble dictionary. He was a “die hard” Washington Redskins fan, and the Carolina Tarheels were his Basketball team of choice. He found great joy and loved being mistaken for the rapper Rick Ross.
When accompanied by his #1 girl, his mother, Rhonda Haynes and Patrice Drayton, he introduced himself as Charlie, and they were his Angels. Daboo leaves to cherish his precious memories, his parents Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Nash, grandmother, Mrs. Mary-Ellen Nash, sons, Darren Nash Jr., (his mother, Shawntay Wilson) and Darrian Nash; one daughter, Ms. Quanetti Nash all of the home. Five brothers, Mr. Randy Nash Sr., of Greensboro, Mr. Julian Nash, Mr. Julius Nash, Mr. Kevin Nash Sr. (Mamie) and Mr. Samuel Nash Jr. all of Charlotte.
Sisters, Ms. Tiffany Dixon, Ms. Annette Wright, Ms. Sherry McGill, all of Charlotte. Four granddaughters, A’journi Eternity, Noelle Nash, and A’Gia Giles. Two grandsons, Darren III and Nadir Nash of Charlotte.
Uncles, Mr. Malcolm Lowery, Mr. Wiilie Nash, Mr. Robert Nash (Queen), Mr. Ronnie Nash (Audrey), and Mr. Donald Ray Nash, all of Charlotte, Mr. Donald Wilson (Elizabeth) of Demark, SC. Aunts, Ms. Mattie Wallace, Ms. Betty Wallace, Ms. Alberta Davis, Ms. Pauline Everett, Ms. Geraldine Coleman (Elbert) of Charlotte, and Ms. Brenda Hill of Washington D.C. Two great-uncles, Mr. George Caldwell (Gladys), and Mr. James Jeter (Katie) of Charlotte. Two great-aunts, Ms. Mary McCollie of Charlotte, and Ms. Coline Siler of Washington D.C. Cousins that were raised as his brothers, Mr. Terry Carrothers (Gloria), Mr. Christopher Carrothers, Mr. Derrick Davis (Sandra), Mr. Tremaine Nash, and Edward Dixon.
Twelve nephews and six nieces whom he insisted call him “Uncle Daddy,” 8 great-nieces, and 6 great-nephews. A host of special friends, cousins, all the “Fellas on the BLOCK”. Daboo will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He had a contagious smile and an extremely giving heart. Although his favorite phrase was “I ain’t go no money”. He would gladly give you the shirt from his back.
Daboo was a free-spirited person, who love everyone. We take comfort in knowing that God makes no mistakes, he knows what is best for us. Daboo is suffering no more and is walking around heaven.
We thank God for loaning him to us for 50 years, and we look forward to the day when we will see you again. Take your rest Daboo, you will live in our hearts forever. We LOVE you ALWAYS!
