Daryl’s Obituary A celebration of Life for Daryl L. Kadel, 78 of Joy, will be held on Friday at 4:00 PM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Following the services, a time of fellowship and visitation will be held at the Aledo Fire Station from 5:30 to 8 PM. Private family burial will be in Leech Cemetery, rural Buffalo Prairie.

Memorials may be made to the Buffalo Prairie Fire Department or Jordan’s Joy. Daryl died Sunday, March 3, 2019 at Genesis Medical Center. Daryl Lewis Kadel was born on September 29, 1940 in Muscatine, Iowa to Harold W. & Leona C. (Barlett) Kadel.

Daryl was a 1958 graduate of Joy High School, where he excelled at basketball. He enjoyed sharing his talent on the court for many years and to this day loved watching games. He married, Sharon Epperly in 1958, they later divorced.

Daryl and Joyce Anderson were united in marriage on February 8, 1985 in Davenport. Daryl dedicated his life to farming, where he raised many different animals, with his favorite being cattle. He enjoyed going to the Cattle Sales; driving his quarter horse team and carriage; and was known as Mr. Hospitality, as he could often be found having coffee with friends and family.

Those left to cherish Daryl’s memory include his wife: Joyce; 3 Children: Lori Smith and Devon Kadel, both of Aledo and Blake Kadel of Joy; a sister, Sandra Higgins of Joy; grandson: Jamie (Bre) Smith and great-grandson, Calvin and another lovingly expected. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews including: Kyle (Debbie) and Ryan Higgins and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents.
