OBITUARY Dave Steffan Sr. November 29, 1927 – November 24, 2018 Play Tribute Movie David B. Steffan, Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great, great grandfather passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Nov. 24th, 2018. Born in Buffalo, N.Y. on November 29th 1927 but raised in Memphis, TN.
He met and married the love of his life before moving to Houston, in 1954. He was proceeded in death by his wife Betty, daughter Ginger, granddaughter Heather and beloved brother John. He is survived by his children Cindy Gum (Stan), David, Jr., Tom (Liz), Maria Frank (Mike), Robert (Sherry & beloved Kim), Suzanne Kelly (Jim), and Richard (Tiffanie).
He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren. He and his wife Betty were married 67 years and cherished every moment of it. Dave was the sweetest man with a smile you didn’t forget.
He was a devoted father and loved his family unconditionally. He didn’t have the catchy Bingo Betty nickname but he sure loved playing bingo with Betty and later his daughters every week. Dave supported Houston’s sports teams without fail and loved flipping between stations whenever his Astros were playing opposite the Texan’s or Rockets.
Dave and Betty hosted many a pool party or sleepovers for their beloved grandchildren before downsizing to a condo later in life. Dave started a career in the kitchen business in 1948 and later became a factory rep for Wood-Mode Custom Cabinetry until he retired in 1992. He will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know him or work with him.
His family would like to thank his caregivers, Griselda Mejia, Idania Leon and Maria Duarte and Memorial Hermann Hospice. A Funeral Mass celebrating Dave’s life will be on Friday, November, 30th 2018 at 10:30 am at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail, Houston, TX 77079. Interment will follow in Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Rd. Houston, TX.
