Mr. David A. Heintzelman, 86, of Mahoning Valley, passed away Tuesday, December, 11th 2018 at his residence. He was the husband of Joan E. (Haberman) Heintzelman. They were married for 63 years on November 26th of this year.

Born In Mahoning Valley, Pa. , on Sunday March 25, 1932, he was a son of the late Norton & Laura ( Wehr) Heintzelman. He served our country with the United States Army during the Korean War attaining the rank of Specialist 3rd Class.

A butcher by trade, he was the former owner/operator of the century old Heintzelman’s Meat Market in Mahoning Valley until its sale in 1994. David’s family started the business in 1906. David was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mahoning Valley.

He held Life memberships with The Beaver Run Rod & Gun Club and The Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company. A member of other various clubs, he was a great contributor to the community of Lehighton & the surrounding areas. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting & fishing as his hobby.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Attorney Holly A. Heintzelman of Lehighton, 2 sons, Matthew D. Heintzelman & his wife Amanda Jane of Berwyn, Pa. Scott D. Heintzelman of Lehighton, 3 brothers, Quinton Heintzelman of Indianapolis, Indiana, Franklin Heintzelman & his wife Betty of Anderson, South Carolina, Kermit Heintzelman & his wife Elaine, of Garner, North Carolina, a granddaughter, Laura Jane Heintzelman, nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Luther Heintzelman.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 14th at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 826 Mahoning Drive West, Lehighton, Pa. with the Reverend Christopher Deforest officiating. Call 9:30 to 10 a.m. at the church.
