David C. Moon, 76, Long Beach, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at 8:36 am at his home. Private family services will take place with arrangements being handled by the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, Indiana. He was born September 25, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Horwell and Corrine (Gilbert) Moon.

On March 20, 1965 in Reading, Michigan married Jane Oliver, who survives Long Beach, Indiana along with two nieces, Susan Lomax and Jennifer Gauche’ both of Cincinnati, Ohio; He was preceded in death by Sister, Marilyn Lomax; David graduated 1960 from Mt. Pleasant High School, Wilmington, Delaware and Tri-State University (now Trine University), Angola, Indiana where he was a member of the Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity. He served in the US Army Reserves for the State of Delaware.

He spent many years in operations with Spiegel Catalog, Chicago, Illinois. David also was former owner of the Purple Moon, New Buffalo, Michigan. He was instrumental in securing and raising funds to develop the new Michiana Humane Society serving two terms as president.

He had a special love for pets to include his Corgi and yellow mixed lab dogs. He belonged to Long Beach Country Club being an avid golfer who also enjoyed watching golf events on television.
