Obituary for David C. Starkweather David C. Starkweather, age 90, of Alliance, passed away at 12:10 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2016, at McCrea Manor Nursing Center. He was born September 28, 1925, in Toledo, Ohio, to Chester K. Starkweather and Lucille G. (Emch) Starkweather. A 1943 graduate of Alliance High School, Mr. Starkweather received his Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from Akron University in June 1950.

A U.S. Army WWII Veteran, he was the recipient of the EAME ribbon with two bronze stars, good conduct medal, WWII Victory medal, American Theater Ribbon and Purple Heart medal. He worked at B&W Research for ten years, Electric Furnace Company in Salem for 22 years and Westinghouse Naval Systems in Cleveland for eight years. David was a member of Union Avenue United Methodist Church.

He held memberships with the Nation Rifle Association, Century Association, 100th Infantry Division, ASME, American Society Mechanical Engineers, and was a Register Professional Engineer. Survivors include son, Chris (Laura) Starkweather of Hartville; granddaughters, Sydney and Averi Starkweather of Hartville. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Starkweather; and his wife, Betty M. (Pettit) Starkweather, whom he married June 18, 1949, and who died July 6, 2009, and twin sister, Phyllis G. Schalk.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2016 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Timothy Muse officiating. Friends may call the hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment with military honors will be at Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 4682 Douglas Circle NW, Canton OH 44718, or St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 3830 S. Union Ave. Alliance, Ohio 44601.
