Peacefully at age 91 on November 21, 2018. Predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Joan, he is survived by his children, Judy (Vince) Cama, Carol (Gerry )Whitbourne, David (Carolyn Heit) John (Kylie); nine grandchildren; a great granddaughter; brother, Richard (Laurie); sister-in-law, Shirley Closson and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. After high school he enlisted in the Army.

He then went on to graduate from Union College and received his Master’s degree from Albany State College. He enjoyed a 30-year career at Brighton High School as a teacher and guidance counselor. Whether he was teaching or encouraging his students to be their best or volunteering during his well-lived retirement, he was always passionate about helping others.

In 1997 he received the Visiting Nurse Service Volunteer of the Year Award for his work with Meals on Wheels. For over 30 years, he and his wife were active members of Asbury First United Methodist Church (AFUMC), especially the close-knit Partnership Class. In his free time he enjoyed the company of his family and many close and wonderful friends and never missed a chance to share his love for them all.

His family will especially miss his unique Christmas Eve “programs” gathered around the tree. Special thanks to the caring staff of Creekstone Memory Care (rph.org) and Visiting Nurse Hospice (urmhomecare.org). In lieu of flowers donations can be made to either of these organizations or The Memorial Fund of AFUMC (asburyfirst.org).

A Memorial Service will he held Wednesday, November 28th, 2 PM with a reception following at Asbury First United Methodist Church, 1050 East Avenue, Rochester.
