David’s Obituary David Emery Evans of LeRoy passed away Sunday, March 10th 2019 at Autumnwood of McBain. He was 71 years old. David was born in Traverse City, Michigan to parents Elmer E. Evans and Frances J. (Puckett) Evans on March 31st, 1947.

The family resided in Mancelona MI, where David graduated from high school in 1965. On September 6, 1969, David married Deborah Ann Herban of Frankfort MI. Dave attended Northwestern Michigan College, then transferred to Ferris State University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Education with Vocational Certification in 1972.

David was then employed as a teacher, administrator, and community education director in Bellevue MI. During this time, he attended Western Michigan University, graduating with a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration in 1976. In 1979, Dave moved with his wife and two daughters to LeRoy MI, where he was employed for the next 23 years at Pine River Jr/Sr High School as Assistant Principal, Adult Education Director, Athletic Director, English teacher, and Director of Alternative Education at the Wexford Missaukee ISD.

He had fond memories and many stories to share from his years in education! Upon retirement in 2002, Dave went on to teach English for Northwestern Michigan College. He also worked as a Realtor for Exit Realty until 2010.

He was involved in many service activities within schools, church, and the local communities, including President of Rose Lake Youth Camp for several years. In addition to spending time with his family, Dave enjoyed golfing, watching sports, traveling, boating, and relaxing on the deck overlooking Rose Lake. Dave and his wife also spent many winters in the Ft.

Myers FL area. David is survived by his “beautiful wife” Debby, amazing daughters Kimmaley (Scott) Burch of Kingsley MI, and Kristy (Allan) Adsit of Coopersville MI; Grandchildren Emmaley, Cecil, Evan Burch, and Piper Adsit who were the pride and joy of his life. David was preceded in death by his parents, special cousin Cecil Puckett, and beloved sister Dana Evans Sudman.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 o’clock Sunday, May 26 at the LeRoy United Methodist Church, with luncheon following in the church Fellowship Hall. The family will hold a private graveside service at Maple Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family, or to the LeRoy United Methodist Church Memorial fund, in David’s name.
