Funeral Services for Syracuse, Kansas resident David Jantz will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2019 at the First Christian Church in Syracuse, Kansas. Interment will follow the service in the Syracuse Cemetery. Visitation for David will be held 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2019 at the First Christian Church and 10:00 a.m. to service time on Friday, May 10, 2019 also at the church.

David Herman Jantz was born on November 3, 1950 in Syracuse, Kansas to Herman and Agatha (Reimer) Jantz. He attended Syracuse High School. After attending high school, he was employed by Ervin and Allen Levens.

Later he acquired farm ground and became the owner of DJ Farms. In 2017 after farming his entire life, he retired. David and his wife, Joanice Lantz were married 42 years until his passing.

His hobbies included restoring antique tractors, riding 4-wheelers, dune buggies, antique tractor pulls, car shows and parades with his grandchildren, collecting miniature JD tractors, building hotrods, tinkering, and also loved to drag race. He is known for the famous quote, “Oh, fiddlesticks! ” David could fix anything.

He was a strong man of faith and would help anyone. He served on the Fair Board, Farm Bureau, Museum Board, Syracuse Co-Op Board and Elder of First Christian Church. David passed away at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, CO on May 6, 2019 at the age of 68.

David is survived by his wife of the family home, Joanice Jantz; daughters, Alicia Hinkle of Dumas, TX, and Kimberly Cashler of Syracuse, KS; brother, Earl (Marcia) Jantz of Piedmont, OK; granddaughter, Sierra Hayes of Pampa, TX; grandsons, Tristan Cashler of Kansas City, KS, David Cashler of Colby, KS, Asher Baklik of Dumas, TX; and great-grandson, Jensen Norris of Pampa, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Agatha Jantz. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hamilton County Museum in care of Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel P.O. Box 950 Lamar, CO.
