David J. Cotzin, Sr., 80, of New Ipswich, NH, died Friday, October 26, 2018, at his home, following a lingering illness. He was born on November 9, 1937, in Temple, NH, the son of Milton and Toini (Maki) Cotzin. David attended schools in Temple, NH, and Connecticut, and graduated from Appleton Academy in New Ipswich, NH, in 1955.

He then attended the University of NH. He married his high school sweetheart, Hazel Moran, on February 14, 1959. David was formerly employed at Rowse… Read More » Co. in Greenville, NH, and retired from Simonds Saw and Steele in Fitchburg, MA, after many years.

He worked as a sales agent for Neimi Real Estate until he obtained his broker’s license. He opened his own company, Academy Real Estate, in New Ipswich, NH, working there until he sold the company. He always retained his broker’s license.

In recent years David was a member of the zoning board and faithfully attended selectman’s meetings each week, “keeping tabs on town business”. He also was a member of the Old Fire Station Committee, to preserve it to eventually become a Fire Museum. He was also a lifelong member of the New Ipswich Athletic Association.

David is survived by his wife of 59 years, Hazel (Moran) Cotzin, of New Ipswich, NH; his daughters, Lynda Ilomaki, of Lakeworth, FL, and Holly Rodier and her husband, Scott of DeFuniak Springs, FL; six grandchildren, Crystal Burdick, of HI, Cassie Rhoads, of HI, Elizabeth Ilomaki, of FL, Erik Ilomaki , of FL, Andrew Cotzin, of Rindge, NH, and Christopher Rodier, of Tallahassee, FL; nine great-grandchildren; his sister Anne Soini and her husband, Alan, of New Ipswich, NH, many nieces, nephews, and close friends. He is recently predeceased by his two sons, David J. Cotzin, Jr, on November 13, 2017, and Thomas M. Cotzin, August 17, 2018, both of DeFuniak Springs, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial donations to be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 200 Ashby Rd, New Ipswich, NH, 03071, or the St. Vincent De Paul Society, 15 High St, Greenville, NH, 03048.

All are warmly welcome to calling hours on Friday, November 2, 2018, from 4:00pm-6:00pm, at the Michaud Funeral Home, 32 Maple St, Wilton, NH. A church service will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at 11:00am, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 200 Ashby Rd, New Ipswich, NH, followed by a graveside ceremony at Central Cemetery, in New Ipswich, NH.
