Obituary for David John Hawkins David John Hawkins passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the age of 71 at the Orchard Creek Assisted Living Center in Traverse City, Michigan. David was born in Toledo, OH before moving to Glen Arbor in the 1980s. He was the son of Edgar J. Hawkins and Elsie (McQuiston) Hawkins and graduated from DeVilbiss High School in Toledo, OH and Principia College in Elsah, Illinois.

Few can claim to be one with their environment. David, however, could. David first fell in love with northern Michigan after spending several summers at Camp Leelanau in the 1950s.

Without question, the Glen Arbor community fit David. David enjoyed a lifetime of hobbies. His passion for photography and writing created a multitude of authentic projects, with the beautiful landscapes of northern Michigan as a consummate of inspiration.

A sincere thank you is necessary for the many people in the Glen Arbor community who extended friendship and help to David throughout the years. The family sends immense gratitude to the staff of Orchard Creek and Hospice of Michigan for their wonderful care during this difficult time. David is survived by his sister, Susan King (James) of Sylvania, OH and his nieces, Meghan Sullivan of Cincinnati, Ashley King of Chicago and Lindsay Coppola of New York City.
