David Leon Tinney was born July 16, 1966, in Oklahoma City, to James Edward and Nona Ruth Brooker Tinney. He passed away on Sunday, December 16, at the age of 52. Family visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, December 18, from 5:30-7:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, December 19, at 2:00 P.M. in the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. James Miller officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home.

David attended Duncan High School and received his GED in 1983. He then attended classes at Oklahoma Missionary Baptist College in Marlow. He married Teresa Marie Wilson on July 22, 1983, in Duncan.

He was employed as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1987 to 1991. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and cooking out.

He loved to attend church and was a member of The Christian Center. He and Teresa helped to sponsor a child in Honduras to attend school. He loved spending time with his family.

David is survived by his wife, Teresa; son, Kevin Tinney; father, James Tinney; sister, Virginia Tucker; brothers, Jim and wife Earlene Tinney and Wayne and wife Susan Tinney; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nona Ruth Tinney; sisters, Bonnie Miller and Twila Youngblood; and brother, Benny Tinney. Memorial contributions can be made in David’s name to the Taylor LeNorman Cancer Center, 2110 Duncan Regional Loop Road, Duncan, OK 73533.
