David Merrill Collins, age 98. A longtime resident of Hinsdale, Illinois for over 60 years, born April 30, 1920 in Tulsa, Ok and passed away December 12, 2018 in Hinsdale, IL. Beloved husband of the late Monica Marie Collins, nee Buerglar; loving father of Patricia Collins Wrede, Susan (Dean) Domeyer, David Alan (Cathy) Collins, Margaret (Dale) Hill, and Carol Ellen Collins; dear grandfather of Devin, Cole, Janice, David Christopher, Benjamin, Monica, Leandra, and Jesse.

Preceded in death by… Read More » his elder brother, Richard Collins, and his parents Ray and June Collins. David and Monica met a Purdue University. After WWII and David’s honorable discharge from the US Navy, they founded York Tool and Manufacturing Co. (later Lindy Manufacturing) and they married on February 23, 1952.

Together David and Monica ran the company and raised five children. In addition to engineering, David enjoyed woodworking, particularly marquetry and inlay work, which he practiced since he was 16. He was an avid supporter of education.

He also loved the National Parks. Funeral Services Tuesday, December 18th, at St. Isaac Jogues Parish; 306 W. Fourth Street, Hinsdale, Illinois 60521. Visitation, 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. in the fireplace room.

Funeral Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
