David Michael Potter, 66, walked on to heaven, on June 19, 2018, to be greeted by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a faithful long-term member of Cornerstone Church, where he was a part of the City Lights Team while he was able. His heart was always for the hurting and disadvantaged.

David attended Vinton County High School and Hocking College. He was “Old Fox,” a proud member of the Cherokee nation. He was a truck driver and in sales management during his working career.

He was born to William Robert and Myrtle (Lafferty) Potter on December 8, 1951, in McArthur, Ohio. He was married for 35 years to Jean Mason Potter when she left him for heaven in August 2016. Together they had two daughters who have been the joy of his life, Jennifer Potter of Canal Fulton and Sara Potter of Los Angeles.

He will also be greatly missed by his sister Margaret (Ron) Winters, his in-laws Pastors Charles and Brenda Young, Pastor Dwight and Patty Mason, J. and Cathy Mason. He was a special uncle to 15 nieces and nephews and 9 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Jean, his father William Robert, his mother Myrtle and stepfather Foster Jordan, brother and sister-in-law Gary and Mary Potter, father- and mother-in-law James and Marie Mason, and special cousin Jan Cottrill.

Family and friends’ visitation will be held at NewPointe Church, 5305 Broadmoor Circle NW, Canton, Ohio, on Saturday, June 23, from 10 a.m. to noon, with a Celebration of Life service at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to City Lights in memory of David, at Cornerstone Church, 2717 S. Arlington Rd. , Akron, Ohio 44312.
