Obituary for David White Sr. His Life… DAVID WHITE, SR. , was born the fifth of eleven children on Friday, November 17, 1922, to the proud parents of Parham Sr., and Annie Jane (Russell) White in Hope Hull, Alabama. He was educated in the Hope Hull School System.

At an early age, David accepted Christ at Big Zion A.M.E. Church. David met his soul mate Serlena Lawson in Birmingham, Alabama and married on July 19, 1949. They were married 69 years.

To this union five children were born: David Jr., Deborah, Sharon, Carl and Corzell. In March of 1952, David moved his family to Detroit, Michigan. He was a dedicated worker at Chrysler Corporation for 38 years, and retired in 1990 as a Crane Operator.

In November of 1965, David moved his family to Romulus, Michigan where he joined Parks Memorial A.M.E. Church in 1970, under Reverend Carrington. He served on the Board of Trustees and was a member of the Men’s Choir. He was a faithful steward until he became ill and unable to attend.

David was also a lifelong member of the NAACP in Muskegon. David was a devoted family man and he loved visiting family! His favorite past time was spent planting and tending to his garden, cooking, hunting, barbering, and working on cars.

He sold vegetables to various grocery stores in the area and co-workers. He was known as “The COON Man”…. hunting, selling and cooking raccoons!

! He was also famous for telling jokes and nicknaming the grandkids, relatives, family and friends! !

! David was a beloved son and dependable brother, a loving and devoted husband, father and a jewel of a friend. He will surely be missed!

! David was preceded in death by his parents (Parham and Annie Jane White) and his siblings: Conor, Samuel, Ulysses, Annie L., Rubbie, Carrie and Parham Jr.; and great grandson, Calen L. White. His memory will be cherished by his wife: Serlena; three sons: David Jr, Carl L. and Corzell L. (Mila); two daughters: Deborah and Sharon D.; nine grandchildren: LaDeanna C. (Stephen) Brownlee, Doron R. (Nezula) White, Priest G. White, LeShell D. Arrington, Toya C. (Kyle) Tucker, David White III, Kevin P. (Nikidra) White, Corzell M. (Michelle) White, Christiana M. White; twelve great grands and a great-great granddaughter; three sisters: Dora L. Crittendon, Johnie Weathers, Corrie (Welton) Wright; two brother-in-laws: Sam (Juanita) Lawson and Robert (Charlita) Fraizer; a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
