Obituary for Dayna Lynn Anderson Dayna Lynn Anderson January 28, 1959-July 23,2018 Dayna was a multi-faceted, complex woman who embodied many essential attributes which included compassion, a strong sense of right and wrong, a continual quest of knowledge and learning, an ability to aspire to the highest professional standards in her chosen field of Speech and language therapy, and a desire to make a positive enhancement to the lives of her husband Drake, her beloved family, her canine children Thor and Loki, her beloved friends, and the students and families for whom she sought to find the correct strategies to help them achieve and become successful navigating through previous obstacles. However if there could only be one word to best describe Dayna it would be “vitality”, which in one definition is the” power to learn and grow”. When one was in her presence her sense of having fun, making connections between two different concepts, enjoyment of art( visual, musical, craft work )was infectious.

She was an extraordinary artist herself, creating wondrous gardens, beautiful beadwork, and knitted pieces, both functional and expressionistic. She remained a champion of women, children, and others whom she believed should be supported to be able to develop functional competencies. She loved traveling but had a special affinity for the North Shore of Lake Superior.

Dayna was adept at languages, being fluent in Spanish and Portuguese. She had a distinguished career, spanning 25 years with Edina Public Schools as a Speech Language Pathologist. She was active in the union and also within the Special education Department, mentoring new students in the Links program and also as the Assistive Technology Specialist for the District.

She is survived by her husband Drake, her mother Jackie, brothers and sisters Scott, Becky, Bridget and Derek, brother and sister in laws, nieces and nephews, dogs Thor and Loki and by numerous friends. She will always be remembered, never replaced.
