Deacon Elton’s Obituary Deacon Elton C. Harrison Elton was born on March 13th, 1944, in Americus Georgia, the first child of the union of Elton C. and Juanita Maxwell Harrison. The family expanded to four with the arrival of Maxwell J. Harrison. He transitioned from our grasps January 26th 2019.

He graduated from Holy Rosary Institute of Lafayette Louisiana and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Southern University in Baton Rouge. After being honorably discharged from serving in the US Army, he received an MBA from Texas Southern and pursued further studies at Harvard University and Tulane University. His work experience included computer programming at IBM, Adjunct Professor as SUNO, Assistant Director of Planning at Tulane, Purchasing Director at UAPB, and finally, Contract Administrator at the Pine Bluff Arsenal.

On June 26 1966 he married his college sweet heart Nola Cluse and the family grew to five with the births of James Andrew II, Juanita ReNelle, and Elton Clement IV. Affirming his faith, he became a deacon of the Catholic Diocese of Little Rock and served the parishes of St Peter, St Rapheal and St. Justin Catholic churches for 21 years. Elton’s health began to fail a few years ago but he stayed devoted to his family through the final chapter.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, his children, James II and Juanita, and four grandchildren James III, Javion, Ariana and Ava and a host of relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his mom, dad, brother and youngest son. Visitation will be at Brown’s Funeral Home February 3rd 5-7pm and the Celebration of Life will be February 4th at St. Peter Catholic Church at 11am.

Internment is February 6th at Louisiana National Cemetery in Baton Rouge, by Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff, AR. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to St. Peter Catholic Church Soup Kitchen. www.
