Deane Talkington E. Deane Talkington, 90 EAST LIVERPOOL – E. Deane Talkington, of East Liverpool, passed away Monday, April 9, 2018 at Auburn Nursing and Rehab in Salem following a lengthy illness. He was 90. Born in Center Point, West Virginia, May 20, 1927, he was a son of the late John Harley and Eva Ethel Swiger Talkington.
A member of the Doddridge High School Class of 1945, he was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. A resident of this area since 1948, for over 50 years he worked construction with the IBEW Local 246 until retiring. Previously, he worked at Ohio Power and the former Smith and Phillips.
Deane was a member of the East Liverpool Church of the Nazarene where at one time he was a member of the Homebuilder’s Class, the choir, the Ambassador’s Quartet, Sunday school superintendent, a 43 year member of the church board, and taught the 6th grade Junior Boys Sunday school class. On four occasions he traveled with the Akron District for the Work and Witness Program. Deane was also instrumental in the Monday Morning Work Crew at the church.
In 1990, the church recognized him with the Distinguished Service Award for his faithfulness, leadership and many hours of volunteer work. He is survived by two daughters, Ruth Sullivan of East Liverpool and Sara Pitcock of Chester, and six grandchildren: Jared W. Souder and his wife, Sheena, Clifford C. Souder and his wife, Jasmine, Trevor J. Allen and his husband, Michael, Justin Allen, Michelle Lee and her companion, Jack Metz, and Amanda Robarge and her husband, Don, and eight great-grandchildren: Cadence Souder, Avery Souder, Hannah Souder, Jacob Dean Souder, Jared Joseph Souder, Clair Souder, Hudson Metz and Brody Metz. Other survivors include a brother, Lloyd Talkington and his wife, Donna, of Pittsburgh; a niece Deana Stanley and numerous nieces and nephews.
He also leaves his wife Barbara Ann Renaldo of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his wife, E. Rebecca “Becky” Talkington, a daughter, Frances Lee, two sisters, Willa Lee Tice and Janice L. Stanley, and four brothers, Claris, Bernard, Clifford and Dwight Talkington. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the staff of Harbor Light Hospice and the Auburn Nursing and Rehab for their compassionate care.
Friends may visit Thursday afternoon and evening at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Dr. Robert Sylvies of the church will conduct a funeral service Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park. Following the service, friends and family will gather at the Dawson Family Center.
